Rivals

 

Engine : Unreal Engine 4

 

Rivals is a game that I helped to create as part of my colabrative module. It is a spline-based racer desgined for 2-4 players.

 

I was on the tech team and was responsible for a few of the main mechanics including the cars & their controls; the weapons & base pickups; the camera mechanic and the core gameplay loop.

 

The cars were made to follow a spline path, giving the player control of speed, lane changing and weapon firing.

Players have to switch lanes to avoid weapon fire & track hazards and to get ahead of other players.

 

The camera would automatically follow the player in 1st place, and anyone that falls of the screen is removed from play. When only one player remains, the other players are respawned and the race restarts from the last checkpoint reached.
